Connecting Essay 1
This is a photograph taken by Bobby Adams and it is showing a man with half a face next to the younger face. This is showing the direct contrast of age, as it is showing old by the young. This is showing the journey of life through the concept of ageing, it shows as life progresses so does the age and the physical appearance of people. In Bobby's images he makes all of his models wear the same clothing in both of the images in order to make it easier when aligning the photographs with one another. This creates a smoother transition. Also the images of Bobby's have a white background and so there is no harsh changes in background colour. Also the facial symmetry is aligned perfectly as the hairline is in the same place and the rest of his face is also in line with the other half of the face.
This is one of mt photographs, which was taken in a shoot inspired by Bobby Adam's, however instead of shooting both of the images myself, i took two already existing images, one of a school portrait and another from a wedding. As these were two separate images which were different sizes and orientations, it began quite hard to align the images. Also as they were both separate images taken in different settings, the backgrounds are different as well as different clothing on in the images. This image is again showing the difference in ageing in one person from different stages of life. It shows how as the model has aged he has lost his hair.
These images are both connected as they are made of the layout where the older face is on the left and the younger face is on the right. Both of the images are also contrasting the age of old and young by directly contrasting two of the images. They are both displaying the journey made by the male models in the photographs as they have aged over time.
