Shoot 6 - Ageing - Work Diary

In this shoot i was inspired by the work of Bobby Adams and so i wanted to try and recreate my own  images in a similar fashion. I like the direct contrast of age which can be found by comparing two images directly. I feel this shows the journey of life as it shows the effects of ageing on one person.

In this photograph, i have placed one older school portrait upon a photograph of the same people taken around 30/40 years later, i wanted to capture the effects of ageing and show how people grow old and their facial features change or stay the same. Instead of placing the images over half the models faces like Bobby Adams i found it easier to edit them together like this.

This image is showing the direct contrast of someone and this pictures were taken around 10 years difference, however the contrast between faces is not that great as the time difference is not that great. For this image, as they were two different images, and two different sizes, and so when aligning the two faces it was bit of a struggle to keep the images in proportion with one another, and so if i was to redo this shoot i would retake the photographs so that they were the same way round in order to make it easier when editing the two faces next to one another.

Although this series of photographs have been enjoyable to edit as it shows the journey of life instead of showing physical journeys made etc, i feel like i am going to stick to shooting more physical journies.

Shoot 5 - Walk - Work Diary

For this walk i decided to capture the changing scenery of my journey as i walk to college. On the way there is a variety of different locations, such as a pond and dark forested areas. I captured the different routes and some wildlife along the way. This shoot is showing a journey as it progresses.

This is a photograph i captured of a bush of a collection of leaves, however i was drawn to the unique patterns on the leaves as they had white patterns on the middle sections of the leaves, which i thought was a nice representation of nature. To edit this photograph i increased the vibrance of the leaves in order to make the green more saturated and make the contrast between the green and white stand out more.
This is a photograph i took from one side of the pond, i liked this image as i like the way the water picks up the reflection especially the colours of the trees in the water. I like the effect the reflection has on the image. If i was to re-shoot this image i would try and shoot the image from a different postion around the pond in order to catch the reflection in a different position.

I enjoy looking at wildlife and nature in my work, as i feel it shows the journey it has taken in order to grow into what it is now. I want to also further explore nature walks in  my exam project as i feel it shows the natural final destination of a journey.

Shoot 4 - London - Work Diary

For this shoot i walked around the Westminster area of London as this is quite a popular area for tourists due to the Big Ben and the London Eye being here. I wanted to try and capture the urban presence which can be shown throughout London.

This is an image of a street performer who is playing an accordion, at the beginning of the bridge which goes over the River Thames. One thing i liked about this street performer was that he had dressed his four legged companion up in a mini dog hat and jumper. I feel street performers are a common occurence in central London and so in order to show London's urban personality through image i thought it would represent this in a good way.

This image is showing some graffiti which was captured on the side of a wooden door under a railway bridge. Due to the bright and vibrant colours of the paints used it was clear that a skilled artist had put this on the door and so it must be a form of advertising in order to attract the younger and more urban audience.

If i was to re-do this shoot i would further explore London by going to other typical tourist areas suc as Trafalgar and Leicester Square as i feel these both also capture London life well. I am happy with the outcome of the images from this shoot as they are showing the final destination of London well by capturing things which are stereotypically expected from London.

Shoot 3 - Marsden March - Work Diary

For this shoot i was participating in a 14 mile walk for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, it went from Chelsea back to Sutton. I captured different elements of the types of lifestyle in both Chelsea and Sutton. However, due to some technical malfunctions, several of my images were lost before i could edit and upload them onto my blogger so i only have a few images for this shoot.

This is a photograph i captured of the Chelsea football stadium, however as there were several clouds in the sky, there was not the greatest natural lighting and so i thought it would be best to adopt a selective colour technique in order to make the royal blue of the Chelsea flags and signs etc stand out against the dull colours of the buildings.
This is an image of a Lamborghini which was parked outside the front of a house in Chelsea. As a fan of sports cars, i thought it would be a good way to show the wealth of the types of people living in Chelsea. As there was a gate outside the front, there were metal railings in-front of the car, as so if i was to retake this photograph i would lift up the camera higher in order to remove the black spikes from the photograph.

If i was to re-do this shoot, i would make sure my images did not get lost before they could be edited. However i did like shooting in London as there is always such an interesting subject for the photographs, and so i would like to further explore London in future shoots and mainly focus on the more tourist areas in order to try and catch the urban lifestyle which is present in London.

Shoot 2 - Brighton/Horsham - Work Diary

For this shoot i was staying in Horsham over the weekend and as it is quite a historical town i decided to capture the main town area and then travel into Brighton as it is a nearby seaside town. I feel like seaside towns especially Brighton are able to capture the vast personalities there due to the warm and friendly vibes that can be so easily captured on camera.

This image is capturing a cinema which is located in the lanes in Brighton, i like the way in which there are feet being kicked in the air which are a creative way to show that it is a cinema, I also liike how along the neighbouring shops there is a vast variety in the way in which they are all displayed and set up. If i was to reshoot this image i would zoom in more on the cinema setup as this is really the key part of the image.

This image is showing a wooden walk way along the end of the beach closer to the town than the tide, i like how this image captures the contrast between the stones and the wooden path way. I also like how the path is curved round towards the background of the image. If i was to reshoot this image i would have gotten closer to the floor in order to try and get a close up and direct look down the path and so  see it curving round in a different way.

Overall i enjoyed this shoot as i found the surroundings of Brighton extremely interesting to walk around and shoot, due to the exciting life and personalities of everybody who lives in Brighton. I would like to further explore seaside towns, especially as part of my exam as i think this would be an interesting element to further develop.
