Final Project Evaluation

In this project i chose the topic of 'The Journey' as i felt this would be the easiest out of the given topics to express. Journey can be shown in several different ways, by the method of transport used, the destination once a journey has occurred, someone's personal journey through life which can be shown by birth/death/ageing. As journey can cover such a broad range of topics i felt like it would be the most fun topic to explore further within my topic.

I began my topic with a physical car journey and i found this shoot quite fun to shoot, as there is not a lot of ideas which can come from a car journey i had to think of exciting way to show the journey and i feel i did this through the wing mirror shots and long exposure shots of the traffic as cars drove.
I also enjoyed exploring urban and more rural areas like cities and then beaches such as Clacton and Brighton. I found the destination the easiest way to show journey, whilst i did do several shoots which involved walked places and taking photographs as my journey progressed.
I am really proud of all of the final images which i have achieved, as i feel they show a wide range of images which are all showing 'the journey' in different ways.

If i was to redo this topic i would like to focus more of my work on big cities such as London as i feel it is such a big city there are so many different areas all within London which each have their own unique style and personality i feel it would be good to capture this in photographs. Also there are so many different transportation types in London, i feel it would be so easy to travel around the whole of London using so many different types of transport that it would create a good series of photographs.
I would also like to continue developing my work based around seaside towns as i feel each town has its own different vibe whilst all having certain similar characteristics such as piers and arcades.

I struggled coming up with new and exciting ways to edit my photographs, so after reflecting on my work it would have been nice if i had experimented further with different ways to edit my images.
I would have also liked to carry out more shoots especially based in London as i feel there is so much photo-graphical potential.

Throughout the academic year i feel my knowledge of technical skill and vocabulary has evolved and developed along with my learning, i  have learnt new techniques such as long exposure times in order to create a blur etc.  One of my favourite editing techniques is selective colour, i really like the way one part of the image is in colour whilst the rest is in black and white as i feel it enhances and draws the attention to that part of the image.
